Cancun Beaches Are Soft White Sand and Clear Turquoise Waters
Cancun Beaches are among the most beautiful in the world. About forty years ago, Cancun was just sand and sea, and then some Mexican visionaries and the President at that time decided to develop this "corner" of the Yucatan Peninsula.
Today Cancun is a center of tourism with tourists coming from every corner of the world and has been developed to a maximum using every single stretch of beach to build the most magnificent resorts and hotels in the Caribbean. Among Cancun activities are visits to nearby Mayan Ruins and further south to Playa del Carmen Mayan Riviera.
We went to Cancun for the first time in 1978 and I can attest that it was a small town with just a few hotels like Camino Real where we stayed. During the years it has been growing non-stop and even with the set backs of several hurricanes it is now the great tourist center of the Mexican Caribbean.
Cancun Beaches
Cancun's beaches are legendary and with good cause. The powdery white sand, of the Caribbean blesses all of the beaches in Cancun. The Caribbean Sea is unusually warm with incredibly blue water and at most times is very calm. Look down any beach, at almost any time, and you will see people enjoying the calming effects that seem to instantly relieve the tensions of everyday life.
North Side Beaches
- Playa Las Perlas - Good place for swimming, relaxing and varied water sports. You can also get the shuttle to Isla Mujeres here. There are restaurants and bars located along the coast here as well.
- Playa Tortugas - Swimming, water sports, restaurants and bars are located along this clean beach. There is also a dock with shuttles to Isla Mujeres Mexico. From here you may take a scuba or snorkeling tour.
- Playa Caracol - This is a great beach for children because of the shallow flat sandy seabed. It is also one of the most crowded beaches along the strip. There are restaurants, bars and numerous activities here.
- Playa Linda - Starting point of Diving tours and also the shuttle to Isla Mujeres departs from here.
- Playa Langosta or Lobster Beach – This is a clean beach good for swimming, water sports. It features Restaurants and bars.
Location: km 5 in the Hotel Zone
East Side Beaches
In this side of town the beaches have an Ocean side and a Lagoon side. Most of the hotels are located on the Ocean side. Most of the action takes place on the Ocean side but the Lagoon side is great for jet skis, kayaks and other rental water equipment.
The beaches of the ocean side are the same. They are white powdered and clean. Here the protection of Isla Mujeres does not exist; therefore the waves could be big at times. Fort those who like to play with the waves, the place is ideal.
- Playa Marlín – This beach is good for relaxing, swimming and water sports.
- Playa Delfines – This is also very good for swimming and relaxing.
- Playa Ballenas – In the popular Cancun beach you'll find bars and restaurants.
You'll find many Watersports offered here.
- San Miguelito – Besides the relaxing beach there are many Mayan ruins located here.
- Punta Nizuc – Many of the exclusive Cancun resorts are located here.
Cancun beaches are Mexico's showcase resort. The original developers and the Mexican government can be proud of what they have accomplished here. Cancun has been carefully groomed into one of the most polished resorts anywhere. Everything just seems to flow together effortlessly in Cancun. This is one of the reasons that Cancun is Mexico's most popular resort.

Anyone familiar with Vista Sand Diego?
I dont live in San Diego but was thinking of a house i saw for sale on Townsite drive. HOw is that area. There is a KFC and jack in the box around the corner.
Does anyone know how that neighborhood is. Are there alot of MExican people there?
Thanks
The Townsite area is an older neighborhood with a lower economic class living there for the most part. Most of the houses are rentals with lots of people living in each house.
To answer your question, there are a lot of Mexican people. Lots of good mexican food and markets, too.
