What do you call the paper/plastic holder with a logo that news agencies slot their microphones into?

And how do you make one? Whats the usual material?

Mic Flags.
Basically they're plastic cubes or triangle shaped things with a hole in the top and bottom about half an inch wider that the mic barrel. There is foam inside that keeps the mic barrel from moving around too much.
The one's I've had experience don't have enough foam inside to make them stay up on the mic, but when you're holding the mic there's really just enough room under them for your hand anyway.

You might be able to make one out of styrofoam and cover it with a nicely printed logo.
