What liquids can make a rubber duck sink?

i have to do this lab where i can use various types of liquids, but one of them have to make the rubber duck sink. So far i tried everything and i cant find a liquid that can make it sink to the bottom. I tried rubbing alcohol, oil, vinegar, wine, and regular water.

You need to work out the density of the rubber duck - you can do this by weighing it, then immersing it into a graduated container and seeing what volume of water it displaces.

Divide the weight of the duck by its volume and you'll get the density.

The density of the liquid needs to be lower than the density of the duck in order for it to sink.

The liquids you have tried are all fairly similar in density - water, wine and vinegar are all predominantly water based, so they will all have densities of 1.00 g/cc give or take. Rubbing alchohol will be about 0.8 g/cc. Oil depends what sort of oil it is - if you're talking about vegetable oil it will be around 0.8 - 0.9 g/cc.

The lowest density liquids you are likely to be able to get hold of would be things like hexane (density 0.65 g/cc). But whether this would work I have no idea, as I don't know your rubber duck density!
